Rivaton Translators successfully co-hosted a full-day International Translation Day celebration on 30 September 2026 at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites, Nairobi.
Under the theme “Linguistic Diversity and Language Rights: The Power of Being Understood,” the event brought together representatives from language institutions, media institutions and financial institutions, alongside translators, interpreters, language service providers, university lecturers and translation students.
Expert Perspectives and Practical Learning
Three distinguished speakers addressed issues central to professional language services:
- Nataliya Nedkova: Linguistic validation, its opportunities and challenges, and the human expertise essential to quality.
- Dorothy Siele: Indigenous language documentation and the preservation of linguistic heritage.
- Dr Deris Meh: “The Language of Dignity: Translation and the Right to Belong,” examining language, inclusion and belonging.
A practical Language Validation Workshop led by Nataliya Nedkova strengthened the programme’s focus on professional development. The celebration concluded with the presentation of workshop certificates.
Connecting Kenya’s Language Community
The gathering provided a platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking and collaboration across sectors. For Rivaton Translators, co-hosting the celebration reinforced our commitment to quality language services, linguistic diversity and the development of Kenya’s translation and interpreting profession.
We thank our colleague co host, our speakers, participants and organising teams for contributing to a successful celebration.
