DESCRIPTION:Rivaton Translators successfully co-hosted a full-day International Translation Day celebration on 30 September 2026 at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites\, Nairobi. \nUnder the theme “Linguistic Diversity and Language Rights: The Power of Being Understood\,” the event brought together representatives from language institutions\, media institutions and financial institutions\, alongside translators\, interpreters\, language service providers\, university lecturers and translation students. \nExpert Perspectives and Practical Learning\nThree distinguished speakers addressed issues central to professional language services: \n\nNataliya Nedkova: Linguistic validation\, its opportunities and challenges\, and the human expertise essential to quality.\nDorothy Siele: Indigenous language documentation and the preservation of linguistic heritage.\nDr Deris Meh: “The Language of Dignity: Translation and the Right to Belong\,” examining language\, inclusion and belonging.\n\nA practical Language Validation Workshop led by Nataliya Nedkova strengthened the programme’s focus on professional development. The celebration concluded with the presentation of workshop certificates. \nConnecting Kenya’s Language Community\nThe gathering provided a platform for knowledge exchange\, professional networking and collaboration across sectors.
